Cool heart wedding

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

The theme they chose was a heart wedding, and it was a very loving one one for them to choose. The presents, the invitations, the whole nine yards, all of the things in their wedding had a heart decoration of some kind on it. The heart favors were really exquisite with two silver hearts printed on the front with all the necessary information on where, who and when printed inside. They were really quite beautiful. Two wee hearts hung from their unity candle, which was flanked by taper candles sitting in very fine-looking holders. The flowers and candles added an exquisite touch to the altar. They even had hearts hung on the end of each pew with the tulle draping from row to row. I guess when you get married on Valentine’s Day, hearts are really a big deal. It was an incredible wedding, highlighted by a bride that was so lovely, she could have been an angel.
The décor of the reception included a plethora of hearts and flowers. All the centerpieces were bouquets of gorgeous red and white roses, with little hearts sticking out of each one, and they had little silver hearts wedding place card holders at each table setting. The wine glasses and champagne glasses made the tables sparkle. She really did do a bang up job on table décor The champagne flutes were long stemmed crystal and the wine glasses were personalized with the names of the bride and groom and the date of their wedding. The champagne glasses on bride and groom table were really something special. They had a silver double hearts wedding insignia embossed on them, very similar to the hearts wedding invitation they sent out.
The hearts wedding cake they had made had five layers and it was delicious. It really was quite delicious and really gorgeous. Maybe the one place in the whole wedding where there wasn’t a heart was at the top of the cake, where they had a customized miniature replica of the bride and groom that looked exactly like them. They were really very unique, I’ve never seen a wedding cake topper quite like this one. She picked it out on the web; in fact, it was the same site she purchased her other supplies and things for the wedding from. They apparently do customizing on wedding toppers, and all she had to do was send in photos of her and her fiance and they made the special cake topper couple. That’s something they’re going to enjoy looking at for many, many years.
We had a some cool hearts wedding cake, in fact they gave us two thank you gifts. We got coffee in a bride or groom styled package, along with a heart shaped coffee scooper, and then we also got very pretty votive candle holders. A very original idea for them to think of, I felt. Come to think of it, their entire wedding day was filled with sharp ideas they had. The whole hearts genre matched Valentine’s Day, but I was still surprised at how many supplies and wedding items she found to fit that theme. I really thought the wedding cake topper was the most awesome of all. It would be great if they did that for birthdays and other ocassions too. She told me they have supplies and decorations for many events, and promised to show me where she shopped. It was a truly unforgettable evening, and the whole wedding was what every woman dreams of. I’m sure the bride and groom are having a great week in Mexico too. When they get back home, I’m anxious to look through their pictures with them, and hear about all the fantastic things we saw and did in Mexico. The pictures she showed me on the brochures were fantastic.

Cool duck baby shower

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

When I picked the theme for the baby shower, I couldn’t help but think of Ernie on Sesame Street and his favorite bathtub song of ‘Rubber Duckie You’re the One.’ I wasn’t really sure about this theme at first until I checked out all the cute little accessories and all the possibilities of having duck baby shower. They are really so cute and it was a lot better than I thought it would be with all the online shopping help I got for ideas. All kinds of duck favors for baby showers or birthday parties for little ones are out there on the web, and they all look so cute.
I put tables that could seat four apiece in my basement rec room since that was plenty big enough for this size crowd. On one end of the room was a table for all the shower gifts and on the other side of the room I had a buffet style table set up with all kinds of finger foods, drinks and deserts, including an adorable little yellow duck shaped cake with the words baby girl on the bottom layer. On the wall I had a huge cut out of Daisy Duck and smaller cutouts of Donald, Mickey and the whole Mickey Mouse Gang.
I got pink picture frames with tiny ducks on the edges to use a place card holders for each person’s spot at a table. The punch bowl had ducks painted all over it, as did the plates, napkins, glasses, and favor candles that each guest received as a gift. I went to a department store and purchased a little duck shaped baby bathtub and placed a glass punch bowl inside. It was really kind of cute. I found an ice cube tray that made little duck ice cubes, so I put yellow water in them and froze them. I went all out on this duck themed shower.
Other than a few things that people at school suggested to me, I borrowed most of my ideas from things I saw online. I got a cool duck shower favor that was a candle holder, and some duck shower favors that were rubber ducky bookmarks. Everyone thought they were so cute and they made super party gifts for the games we played too.
I filled a square tub with water and, prior to any guests arriving, I put a bunch of duck bath toys in it. Underneath every rubber duck, I wrote a number, and the each guest plucked one out of the water as they arrived. A couple of hours into the shower, I picked a number out of a jar, and the person with that numbered duck received an award. We had a lot of fun with the guess the baby picture game, too. I hung a baby photo of every guest who brought their baby picture along on a bulletin board. All of the people at the shower got a good look at all of the pictures on the board, and then they sat down and attempted to guess who was in what picture. The one with the most correct matches won a prize.
Everyone enjoyed themselves, and the new mommy picked up quite a pile of wonderul presents for her baby girl. I’m very happy with the amount of help I got from going on the Internet. I pulled off one heck of a baby shower, even though it seemed pretty far-fetched at first. The idea of centering it around ducks made for an absolutely adorable theme.
